In Loving Memory Of Very Reverend Fr. Bishoy Wassef.
Fr. Bishoy passed away peacefully on 10th October 2023 aged 68 years.
Loving husband of Rita. Loving father of Peter, Andrew and John.
Adored grandfather of Juliana & Aria. Father to all of his congregation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fr. Bishoy’s funeral service to be held at
Saint Mark & Saint George Coptic Orthodox Church, 12 Marshall St, Strathpine
On Saturday 14th October 2023 with mass commencing at 7:00 am
followed by funeral prayers at 10:00 am.
A funeral procession will follow to
Mt Gravatt Cemetery, 582 Mains Road, Macgregor in Monumental Section 3L
where Fr. Bishoy will be laid to rest.

ابونا الحبيب بيشوى على قدر تعبنا من فراقك لكن نعلم انك مع المسيح وان ذاك افضل جدا
قدسك قلت انك نفسك لما تقابل المسيح تقولة اتفضل الشعب اللى انت اعطيتنى شعب مستعد وتائب يمكن مقدرش اقول انى مستعد ذيك لكن اتعلمت منك وكل الشعب بيحاول يبقى ذى ما قدسك عايزة
بنوعدك نمشى على دربك
وحشتنى جدا صلى من أجل عزائنا نحن الضعفاء
اسد مثل مار مرقس و محارب قوى مثل مارجرجس ….. اظهرت بالضعف ما هو أعظم من القوة مثل المسيح
“لأَنَّ لِيَ الْحَيَاةَ هِيَ الْمَسِيحُ وَالْمَوْتُ هُوَ رِبْحٌ.” (في 1: 21).
الآن هناك فرح في السماء ،
الملائكة و القديسين يستقبلون قديسنا العزيز ابونا بيشوي واصف ،
“فَقَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: نِعِمَّا أَيُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ وَالأَمِينُ! كُنْتَ أَمِينًا فِي الْقَلِيلِ فَأُقِيمُكَ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ. اُدْخُلْ إِلَى فَرَحِ سَيِّدِكَ.” (مت 25: 21).
لقد ربحتك الكنيسة المنتصرة في السماء ،
وخسرتك الكنيسة المجاهدة على الأرض ،
لكن لنا عزاء أنك سوف تتشفع فينا عند الرب يسوع ،
وتصلي لنا هناك ، كما كنت تفعل دائماً ،
.هنيئا لك سكنك الجديد في حضن الآب.
الرب يسوع يرحم روحك الطاهرة ابونا بيشوي ،صحبة الابرار و القديسين.
تعازينا الحارة و القلبية ل تاسوني ريتا ، و اولاده، بطرس، اندراوس، يوحنا، وكل شعب الكنيسة القبطية مار مرقس و مار جرجس ،
ونعزي انفسنا شعب الكنيسة السريانية ،
تركت لنا المحبة و التواضع ،
كنت في عز آلمك فرحا ، وتخدم الكل ،بكل ما لديك من قوة دون ملل أو كلل .
“فَإِنِّي مَحْصُورٌ مِنْ الاثْنَيْنِ: لِيَ اشْتِهَاءٌ أَنْ أَنْطَلِقَ وَأَكُونَ مَعَ الْمَسِيحِ،

My deepest condolences to the family of Abouna Bishoy’s. Fr Bishoy held a special place in my heart as he was the reason I served at church so often. I also pass on the condolences of my dad (John) and his partner (Rylen) for they both had a close relationship with Fr Bishoy. Your family are at the centre of my prayers.

Father Bishoy is a man who worked most of his life to prepare himself for the moment he meets his heavely father. We are sad for his passing but we know that like how the hebrews passed from land of tiredness and slavery and crossed the desert and the red sea to find rest which God has promised . He also crossed to the place of rest in the bosom of Ibrahim Isaac and Jacoub. Pray for us abouna Bishoy .

Abona Bishoy Wasef admired Father Bishoy Kamel for carrying his Cross with joy and happiness, serving with love and honesty. We miss him greatly and will always remember him. Pray for us, our beloved Abona Bishoy.
We are so saddened by the passing of our shepherd Abuna Bishoy. His time with us was too short, and indeed, it is a heartbreaking. Our deepest condolences to the family and friends.
Last time Abona Bishoy was in Townsville at the beginning of this year, he requested for the whole congregation to hold eachother’s hands and for all of us to turn to the person next to us and say: “I will not go to Heaven unless I take you with me..” This was a powerful message that until today rings in my ears. Abona, you taught us not to only think of ourselves but also think of others and to care for their salvation. A very simple demonstration but you were a living proof of it, everywhere you went you cared for others… I will never forget the blessed times I had with you and your wise advice. You will be in our hearts forever ♥️

Regardless of having known Aboona and you for a short time only, we have grown very fond you two. The both of you have been an incredible inspiration, and your example of what it means to live a Christian life has become a beacon of inspiration to Rylin and myself. Only the thought of knowing that our beloved Aboona is now with God, His Saints and Angels, makes this difficult time somewhat bearable. The loss of such an incredible man as our Aboona is not an easy task to deal with. His words of wisdom and inspiration still echo in our minds, and I am convinced that the many spiritual seeds he has sown will come to fruition in many of us for years to come. Knowing such outstanding loving human beings as you two gives the likes of myself hope and a sense of urging on in our pursue to walk ever closer with God. We want to thank you for sharing your husband with us. We are deeply indebted to you for your sacrifices in ministering to us, and for all eternity you will always have a very special place in our hearts. Abouna was not just a Priest, but also a Gedo to our kids and they are really going to miss him. To my dearest Abouna Bishoy.
I know you are watching us from heaven. I feel your spirit surrounding us and I know that even though you have passed in flesh you are present in spirit guiding us. You have been a light and true reflection of our Lord Jesus Christ. You welcomed us into your church and even though we were only here for a short time with you we are overwhelmingly blessed with your love, compassion, kindness, and service. You made it so easy for all of us sinners to feel the warmth, love and embrace of Christ. You did not withhold those who were longing for the Body and Blood of Christ from communion because they haven’t confessed or weren’t fasting. You knew our mortal weaknesses and you prayed for us and forgave us and welcomed us to that mysterious unity with our Lord. You were and still are the true embodiment of Christ. Christ who allowed the sinful woman at the well to be blessed and forgiven and to go preach His Holy name as we all here are today preaching your love and goodness to all who was ever knew you. And those who didn’t. How fortunate are to have lived with a saint among us. There are no words to truly convey the love I have for you in my heart.
For Tasoni, Peter, Andrew and John thank you for sharing your husband and father with us all. He lives on in you. Thank you for being lights in your ownselves and sharing that spirit with us. We see Abouna through your eyes and your love.
Abouna has won the race! How lucky are you Abouna. You are where we are all longing to be. Pray for us until we meet again in the kingdom of our Lord.

Rev. FR. Bishoy Wassef was called to the priesthood after several years as a specialist medical physician. He served the community of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs and is still remembered with great esteem by his patients and medical colleagues alike. Sami, as he was known here, in his role as a healer of the body, always showed a respect and love for the Lord and his patients. Imagine the fullness of a life wherein he was called to serve in a healing ministry of the body, and then to be called to a healing and pastoral role for souls within his branch of Christ’s vine. I am sure I speak for the medical profession in Toowoomba when I say that we were all the richer for having Rev.Dr./Fr. Wassef in our midst
